The published framework

Paneugenesis is set out in a peer-reviewed paper: Becker, Frontiers in Public Health, 2026. It defines the framework as the intentional creation of conditions that generate widespread benefit, and situates it against deficit-oriented models of health promotion.

BeWell'r is the applied, everyday expression of that framework — an attempt to make its ideas walkable as a daily practice. The app itself is not a clinical instrument and is not presented as one.

Intellectual roots

The framework draws on three established traditions: salutogenesis — the study of what creates health rather than what causes disease; behavioral science — how habits form and hold; and quality improvement — how processes are designed, measured, and revised.

The SWPS

The app begins with the Salutogenesis Wellness Promotion Scale — a structured self-assessment across seven areas of life: physical, emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual, vocational, and environmental. Documentation of the scale's development and properties belongs to the research record and will be linked here rather than summarised secondhand.

CONTENT SLOT — Instrument documentation
  • Client-approved description of the SWPS, its development, and any validation work
